The
Unreasonable Institute attracts young social entrepreneurs from across the
globe and unites them at a ten-week Institute in Boulder, Colorado. The
Institute incubates these early-stage ventures with entrepreneurial training,
expert mentorship, and business model development. At the end of the ten
weeks, the Unreasonable Institute connects their Fellows with opportunities to
receive start-up capital and a global network of support needed to give their
ventures wings.
The Unreasonable Institute has selected 25 of the
world's most high-impact young social entrepreneurs. After receiving over
300 applications from 50 countries, they narrowed the pool to 35 finalists, and
they challenged each entrepreneur to raise the funds to cover the $6,500 cost
for the incubator. The catch: entrepreneurs cannot pay their own way. To
test each finalist’s entrepreneurial skill, entrepreneurs were required to
raise donations from supporters worldwide at the Finalist Marketplace. People
from around the world voted with their dollars on the most viable ventures for
creating social and environmental impact. Beginning January 22, the first
twenty-five ventures to raise $6,500 on this marketplace were selected to
attend the Unreasonable Institute.
