Position: Summer Contractor
Project Title: Summer 2011 Guatemala Field Trial
Project Description: RainSaucers manufactures standalone rainwater harvesting (RWH) systems designed to make RWH cleaner, simpler, and more flexible. In the US, we are marketing our solution as a quick, clean, and easy way for people to get started with RWH. In developing countries, we believe that our solution can take on the private drinking water industry which gouges consumers in countries where the municipal water is contaminated. This Summer, we have scheduled a field trial in Guatemala with our in-country partner, Alterna. We are seeking an Independent Contractor to bring the field trials units to Guatemala and implement them in a variety of field examples and monitor their performance and end user feedback throughout the Summer.
Specific Tasks and Timeline:
- Travel to Quetzaltenango, Guatemala in June 2011 with RainSaucers units as check-in luggage.
- Leverage Alterna to establish base of operations.
- Acquire locally all necessary barrels, piping, and materials.
- Assemble completed RainSaucers systems
- Install units at consenting residential and agricultural locations.
- Take pictures (and video) of installed units and end user reactions.
- Provide weekly status updates and captured multimedia.
- Conduct ad-hoc R&D to address end user requests
- Conclude project in August 2011 with Summary report to Alterna and RainSaucers
Position Requirements:
- Spanish capability
- Experience working with PVC and performing basic plumbing tasks
- Experience traveling to developing countries
- Must own laptop and digital camera with video capability.
Compensation and Terms:
