Sixty eight million adults in the United States are currently disconnected from the financial system, and 17 million have no bank accounts at all. Even many Americans who have bank accounts are unable to successfully save, due to the burden of debt or a lack of financial literacy and access to credit.
In order to address this challenge, Village Capital is hosting the 2016 FinTech Showcase on March 12 to highlight diverse and innovative financial technology entrepreneurs from across the US that are disrupting existing industries and increasing financial health for underserved communities and small businesses.
The two-hour pitch event will take place in Austin, TX during the South by Southwest conference. Ten entrepreneurs will pitch to an audience of 150 people and a panel of interested investors, including representatives from Kapor Capital, the Case Foundation and PayPal.
The FinTech Showcase is a lead-in to Village Capital’s larger, four-month business-training program, Village Capital FinTech: US 2016, which will take place in Spring 2016.
